
Classic Spaghetti with Tomato Basil Sauce

Ingredients:
- 200g (7 oz) dried spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g / 14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- A handful of fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. - Make the Sauce
In a large pan over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté the minced garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant (don’t burn it). - Add Tomatoes & Simmer
Pour in the crushed tomatoes. Add sugar, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally. - Add Fresh Basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before turning off the heat. - Combine & Serve
Add the drained spaghetti into the sauce and toss until well coated. Serve hot with grated Parmesan on top if desired.
Tips:
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- This dish pairs well with garlic bread and a fresh salad.
